Trip to North Carolina

A few weeks ago we went down to North Carolina to meet up with Brett's brother Don and our sister-in-law Jen since they were going to be in Raleigh and it is kind of a half way point for us to see them. The other reason it is a great place to meet is that we know TONS of people in Raleigh and never get to see them, so even if we only get a little time to see Don and Jen we have other stuff to do.

The first stop on our trip was at friend's Matt and Sandy's house in Garner, NC (a suberb of Raleigh). It was our first time at their house, so we got the grand tour - including meeting their chickens, and seeing their big wooded yard (not too common in NOVA).

After spending a lot of time outside feeding the chickens we went inside for a feast of our own, and spent the rest of the evening chatting until Peter passed out and it was time to go. That night we stayed at my cousin Stephanies house in Raleigh.

Saturday morning we woke up early and had a huge pancake breakfast (thanks Puff Granny) before heading to our cousin John Milan's house so that Peter could meet his second cousin, Lars, who is 3 weeks younger.

The boys didn't really play together (more or less next to each other), but we got some really cute pictures! Brett also snapped this photo of Lars mid-puke. Brett swears he can win a photo contest with it.

Next we headed off to lunch with Don and Jen at one of Jen's favorite Mexican restaurants (she grew up in the Raleigh area). After lunch we headed to a local duck pond and park to feed the ducks, take a walk, and play on the playground with Peter.

It was a really hot day so we ended up sitting in the shade to catch up and let Don and Jen spend sometime with their nephew. After a couple hours we headed back to the shopping strip where we had lunch and got some lemon aide and ice cream before heading back to NOVA.

It was a really short trip, but we were so glad to see Don and Jen and some of my cousin's as well. We hope to meet them there again whenever they are headed that way since we rarely get the opertunity to see them.
