Peter is starting to realize what the word "no" means... not that he always wants to listen to it. In an effort to teach him, we haven't done a lot of baby proofing of our house (with the exception of electrical outlets). The idea is that he will learn what he is not allowed to touch. This includes a wine rack that we have on the floor in our dining room.
The only problem with this method is that you have to watch what he is doing very carefully, and be consistent about telling him "no." Peter is obsessed with crawling over to the wine rack anytime he gets the opportunity and pulling all the bottles off.
Every time we firmly say his name, say "no," and shake our heads at him. Then he gets a very guilty look on his face, sometimes continuing to touch the bottle (and possibly pulling it down), then he will shake his head "no" (mimicking us) and crawl away trying to avert punishment with cuteness.
Sadly it usually works.
